It Takes More Than Money to Retire Happily

We all have dreams of retirement that most often include umbrella drinks or golf umbrellas. Ahhh, sleeping until noon because we can! Our own version of Eat, Pray, Love  awaits the day when we no longer crawl in early morning traffic and take a sleeping bag to the office.

But after you’ve played golf every day, slept until you have creases in your face and eaten spaghetti, gotten drunk on Spain’s best wine and shopped ’til you dropped, the honeymoon of retirement might be over. Now, you wake up feeling like something is missing and you can’t for the life of it figure out why.

Humans need connection and a sense of purpose in their lives. We need to feel we matter and often, our work has given us that sense of identity. We worked so hard for so long and never really developed hobbies. We raised a family, took care of our parents and now it’s our time…and we don’t have a clue what to do with all this time.

If you are 30 or 40 or 60 or 70, you can begin to “get a life” beyond your work. Discovering who you really are, what makes you happy, lost in the “flow”, what you feel passionate about is the missing piece to a happy retirement. Money will give you choice, but even if you plan on working well past retirement age, planning a new career that gives you not only income but joy is the ticket!

It’s never too late to begin your Life Portfolio. I am here to guide you from where you are now to where you want to be in retirement.
